Well I finally finished the orange Civic.
It's Kirker "Bright Orange Metallic" with a clearcoat.
A few people on here have asked me about it so I
thought I'd post some final pictures.
The color is a real PIA to keep even, it tends to stripe.
It's very translucent and takes a lot of coats to cover.
I guess that's what gives it a candy look.

If anyone plans to use one of these urethane colors from Kirker,
keep in mind....

Buy extra paint because this color took a lot to cover.
(I hear some of the others are better coverage)
And remember, a gallon of color has 3 quarts of paint in it
leaving room for the 1 qt. of hardener. It doesn't go far.
(I don't know why their urethane is like that)

Some Kirker paints have a reputation of being different
on different batches, I needed two gallons so I bought two
and mixed them together. (They don't sell quarts).

I had a lot of problems spraying it evenly so by clearcoating it
I was able to spray the color "dryer" than usual and that helped
keep it consistent. (Just like a base coat.)
I relied on the clear for gloss and buffing.
That makes it a lot easier.

Wait extra time before applying the clear, overnight is best,
but at least 2 hrs for sure.
The clear, if real wet and slow, can mottle the metallic if it's not
flashed off enough.

For under $100.00 a gallon with hardener, for orange, it's a deal. :biggrin:

yea but more time the better it will come out it took me a long time to do the work on the cutty but it looks alsome once u see that first coat of kolor on it :biggrin:
i would have no prob ridin around in that car :biggrin: turned out alsome

Kirker urethane ss with SPI universal clear over it.. Turned out nice ole buddy.. You can paint my hoopty any day brother
