how do you press a full stack safely in order to break them in? im scared they will pop out! :biggrin:

if you got a press, you could weld a circular peice of thick steel together about the same diameter as the coil and i would prolly bolt that down to something, and on the shop press have like a donut on the end of it or something, and break them in quick

well its a big press at the dealer i work at. its not mine so i dont think they will let me weld to it.

It is dangerus regardless. I was pressing a brand new set here at work and it exploded and broke the jig I had it in for safety. Half of the coil hit my buddy right on his hip and bruised him for weeks. :0

dam.........so i guess ill try and stuff them in the car and break them in that way.

i made a compressor for my coils ,it took around 30mins to make out of scrap in the garage and so for it has worked well still fairly dangerous but safe enough for me ,i used a deep cup on top of the jack to stop the coil from slipping

what tonnage are those coils and what kind of jack it that just a regular house jack also what is the biggest ton you have done in there

the coils in the pic are 2.5 tons the biggest weve done is 4.5 mb jammers ,the jack i use is a 10ton bottle jack ,i got the idea from rons at black magic ,it shortend the 4.5 tons about 1 1/2 inches
