Problem with my Hydros .. front won't work

Hey.. I just bought a 79 Grand Prix with 2 Pro Hopper pumps, 8 switches, and 8 batteries. 4 batteries on each side on the trunk. The problem seems to be coming from the left side. I'm totally new to all this... I have the science of the hydraulic system book coming to me on monday...but i'm totally clueless. The back seems to be working correctly..it raises, lowers, side to side, all that...but the front...anytime I hit a switch it just makes this clicking noise. I put a charger on it for a little bit and it started to click more and more rapidly. Then this drunk dude looked at it and said that first relay was bad and out and to replace it. So we stopped charging it and are gonna replace the relay tomorrow. I have no idea. The car needs so much work, if any of you guys can give me any advice or point me in the right direction, i'd be greatful. I don't even know what's wrong with it or what to fix on it. Thanks for any help.

Sounds like u have a bad solenoid.
since u had a car much like my 1st lifted car im going to help..what most likely happend is thebatts got to low and a front solinoid is now stuck open..im guessing u have a single pump to the front..and there are 3 maybe 2 noids that control the pumps motor..u are going to needs a volt meter.. have some one hold the switch and take the volt meter ground one probe and touch the 1st noid were the batt wire goes to it..it should read whatever u have it wired at...36v or 48v whatever..now touch the other side of the noid..it should read the same if it doesnt that noid is bad..move the the next one if that one is good..keep going till u find the noid with out any voltage on the other side of it..thats ur bad one..keep in mind u could have multiple bad ones..and always keep those batts charged..also if at the end of the noids the last terminal were the wire goes to the motor if that terminal reads voltage tha mt means power is getting through all the noids and is getting to the motor and that the motor is shorted

There's one pump to front and to the back..and 3 things that connect to each other on each side... I'm guessing these are the solenoids.. (I told you I'm totally clueless) ... and this is what the drunk dude said I needed but he called them a relay... and said that I could buy one at shucks. If not, where could I buy a new one that would work ? Thanks

you need to replace all 3. pay close attention on how they are wired and connected together ( being as you are clueless ) and go to an automotive parts store ( NAPA, ADVANCED, ect ) and get 3 ford starter solenoids. bring the 3 you have with you to show them. then connect the new ones, and your good to go

disconnect ground!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! before EVER working on your set up

never let the batteries go dead

and tap the switch when raising the car, NEVER hold it
