Hey yall.I got a 65 Impala and it is juiced with hydraulics.I got dual exhaust on my car.The exhaust goes over the top of the rear axel so every time I dump the car all the way down, the exhaust gets crushed in between the rear axel and the frame.I heard of people cutting off the exhaust right before the rear axel to stop it from doing that.My question is if I do this, will my exhaust become alot louder?I was thinking about making the exhaust exit out of the sides right before the rear wheel well.Any help would be appreciated. Thanks alot,

Keith

If your muffler is behind the axle (on the part you're cutting off) then YES, it will become louder... You'll also get some fumes into the trunk and possibly, into the car (not good...) You could dump it out the sides (similar to lakepipes on hotrods and bombs) or you could reroute it into an area that has the room so you don't crush it...
