how can i tell if its limited slip, posi track or wut ever its called.. this dude has it off of the car.. and said i could have it.. all i know is that its from a 72 chevy .. :dunno:
It's most likely not a posi, or a limited slip- unless the rearend came out of a factory high performance vehicle- like a Chevelle SS, or somethin' like that. One quick look at the guts should determine what you're lookin' at- good luck-PEACE
An open ended carrier (one wheel peel) will have 4 gears in the carrier (spider gears) with no springs or clutch plates. You'll know if they are there. The posi will have springs and/or clutch plates on the sides by the gears.
