what all do you have to do to an engine before it is considerd "rebuilt" and will it run like new after it is rebuilt?

bare minimum bore and hone, maybe square the deck and line hone depending on the horses your going to put in it. get you a rebuild kit from the machine shop because they are going to need the pistons when the bore it out. and most of the time if you buy the parts from them they will put it together for next to nothing. have them take a look at the crank it may just need to be polished if not turned down to maybe .010 unless there are some deep grooves. you could also have the rods shot peened and magnafluxed for cracks, there again if your going for more horses than stock you will need at least some h-beams anyway. they will put in the cam bearings and freeze plugs maybe give it a shot of paint when they get done hot tanking it. put it all together and your done. hope this helps.
