i was searchin for some old stuff on layitlow, and came across an older post from caddy bob, on the pressure relif valves.
i was wondering it this valve could be adjusted to a point where the hydraulics could make good pressure, to hop and power 3 (with the proper weight placement) basicaly to not lose performace but be able to keep the set up safe from over lock/pressure lock, over pressureising.
whats the word? anyone know

basicly if you set the valve that high it will not be doing its job. you could set it that high but it will only work to an extent and would not be preventing the damage it was designed to pevent......i have a few 40's in me so what i am trying to say is no i guess.

thats kinda what my thinking was. sence the pressure that is produced by the pump is damaging in its self, that power is used for 3 wheeling and hopping it would be the power lost for the protection. how ever i recall someone saying they put them on there dancer?

what pressure do the relief valves open at and is it adjutable and if so from what psi to what psi?

the relief valves are adjustable but you have to play with it to set it to when you want them to work. there aren't any settings on the valve to guarantee a certain psi. you could use a psi guage inline to find out though.
what you could do is set it to open when you have a runnaway pump to give you enough time to get to the quick disconnect.
i was playing with it before to where i could hold the switch on 24 volts and the fluid would just circulate until the motor got hot...then i stopped. :uh:
i don't think that you would be able to buy much time if you have more than 48 volts running but i haven't tried it.

The pressure relief valve dosent effect the performance unless its set way to high. all it does is divert pressure back to the resevore when the cylinders are locked up . Or have a runnaway motor. There good to have . even better when your got pressure gauges to set them up.

what do you mean, set to high? or more like the crack pressure is to low, like it opens up at a low pressure to make a open loop? because i wanted these but the noise of my car would be like at 72..... and the rear like 48

ok what i mean is, setting the relief too high is loosening it up too much so it wont let the pumps go to enough pressure , like for a chain bridge. tighten it all the way up then to let it blast out as much pressure as it will let then. most pumps dont have them anymore anyway. they are good to have though . most hoppers wouldnt want them though, cause they use that extra pressure to compress the springs after the chains catch. Making sense yet?
