my gears went out of my rear in my 63' and instead of digging threw a junk yard and getting gears that may not be good i want to switch the whole rear out .i was thinking of maybe a 94 caprice and just re-weld all the trailing arm mounts from my impalas on to the newer rear, would the rear be to wide?would the spline\yoke match up?what other newer rear-ends will slide up under w\minimum fabrication required?

if it was me i would buy a set of new gears and bearings from summit or somewhere and put them in myself then take it to a rear end/ tranny shop and have the lash adjusted. i think it would be easier than all the fabracation. if you don't mind the work though you might as well put a ford 9" in, it will be a whole lot stronger than any thing else. thats just me though
