Just wondering what tire shaving is? Whats the point? I know people in the racing world do it to get better performance out of new tires so there isnt a break-in period, but whats the purpose for a lowrider application?

You ''shave'' the ww to make it bigger. ;) People also refer to it as ''cutting'' or ''buffing'' the ww.

for racing youre talking about getting the tread "non-brand new" so that they are a little more slick and grab better off the line. Not sure how this works, im not a racer.

for lowriders "shaving" is making a bigger white wall from a skinny one.

i like wide whites on the right car. but shaved whites are a pain. dont stay clean if u ever get them white, and more suseptible to damage. I had one blow out just because the rim was leaking and the tire got too low

Im not really a fan of the wider white walls. I guess it looks better on certain cars.
