if it is a rwd automatic american car do it your self. its really pretty easy, a few hand tools, a jack, and a day of getting greasy.
at a shop labor is probably $60-$90 a hour and it will take them a few hours to do it. i have seen it done in 30 min. before but if i was getting paid by the hour it might take me five or six.
it's fwd...I would do it but I live in an apartment and I cant even change the oil in the parking lot. I know they would have a heart attack if I had a cherry picker lifting the engine and me taking the tranny out.....
