here, i got an e-mail back from the guy who said "cylinders are crap".
what do you all think of this?
that email closely resembles my feelings on this subject. I disagree with the internal seals being destroyed by using the full extension though, the bore is the same from top to bottom...

what do you have your Airstruts on?  How long have you had them and any problems with them?  What brand did you get?  How high/low can you go with them?

Thanks!
Never owned anything with air except standard bags. Im just looking at the technicalities and the engineering aspects of both.

so, why would you personaly think that the Struts are better then the Cylinders then?
IMO cylinders just dont take the abuse, the rods pit up, bend, break, studs snap off, strip out, seals eventually go bad from lack of lubrication mostly. the surface area is so small that it takes a higher PSI to lift, you probably realize that the higher the PSI, the worse the ride will be.

Strut bags are pretty foolproof. Youre not modifying the factory setup too far from stock. Nothing on the bag to break except the bag itself. They have a larger surface area for a better ride, plus you have to take their inherant flexibility into consideration. No seals to wear out and leak. So on and so forth
