i did 400 wet, and its perfect. no sand marks at all. Its been a month and a half, and still perfect.
I like to use 600 wet, just be carefull around edges and sharp body lines, no brainer obviously.
I USE 600 OR 800 NO COARSER

what u can do for the edges is take some 1" tape and mask of your bodly lines and creases so you dont hit them and burn your paint.
600 is ur best bet.........if u never done it before....tape off the edges like "slo" said.......and make sure u dont put the sand paper on ur fingers :nono: ...use ur palm

i block it flat with 400 and then sand it smooth by hand with 600. But if i were doing only a small object and not a full car i would probably do it with only 600. You dont have to get it real slick, the clear will lay in the scratches causing the clear to lay out smooth and flat. If you sand it with too smooth of a grit it will have a tendancy to slide off and run because it has nothing to "bite" into.
Are we crazy for doing it with 1000!?!??! :0 We get all the orange peel completely out too before we reclear. :dunno:

sort of, youre really just doing too much work, plus the scratches from the 400 or 600 give a better surface for the clear to adhere to.
Cool, thanks for the help guys
