try a differnt brand/grade of gas.

Its called dieseling, run on. Cause could be engine temp too high, too low of fuel grade, bad plugs, and carb problems. Its mainly caused from the engine temp too high, and when you turn off the ignition, the plugs are hot enough to ignite the gas that is still being sucked in from the engine still spinning. so you get that engine run on and that last breath of the motor trying to rev up on fumes. Its not very good for the motor and tells your something is wrong with the carb, or the motor is getting too hot.

yea cheap gas will do that, try running some high octane shit for a couple of tanks

I HAD A 85 CUTTY THAT DID THE SAME SHIT..................JUST CHANGE UR FUEL FILTER AND GET SOME CARB WORK DONE.........DONT HAVE TO GET IT REBUILD JUST CLEANED UP..........
