got an 84 fleetwood with a tired 4.1 (176,000 with no work) and i got a older rebuilt 305 chevy motor and tranny off a buddy and wondered whats involved in the conversion

I'm not sure but I have heard from ALOT of people thats its ALOT of work. Alot more to it than just changin the motor/tranny. To bad it wasn't a diesel, That was a piece of cake

Thats not totally true . I ve done it twice, with no real experiance in my front yard with a hoist , 2 floor jacks , and a $20 tool set from K-Mart.Get a 305 from any GM car It will fit right in ,but you will need to take off the OG fuel pump, so it will bolt in . Use the electric one in the tank.Use mounts from a Caprice, Roadmaster,or 90s Fleetwood. You may have to alter the drive shaft.And while youve got the motor out get rid of all the wireing that you wont need.
