I'm gonna try and fab up my own brackets. Where can I find metal? How thick should I get for a base plate. How big of a diameter tube should I get? What do I look up on under the yellow pages for metal?

for the base plate i got the suicide door ones. they are already cut real nice, i think they are 3/8's thick.

For the tubing, look up "metal supply" or just metal

3/8's thick for the tubing too

I got 4.5" outer diameter tubing

If ya can't find any tubing, call an electrical supply house & see if they got any 5'' steel rigid conduit. They may have some short lengths that are useless to them.
Its about 3/8'' thick, but has a galvanized finish.
