where do you guys get your big alternators? online, junkyard or something?

ive heard that a lot of people go to junkyards and take them out of ambulences/police cars, because they are big to handle all of the lights and shit. but id rather order one online.... but where?

I ordered mine off of summitracing.com, but they might not have one for your specific vehicle. Oh, and the amperage depends on the fuse rating of your amp. If you have 3 40 amp fuses, then buy an alternator that puts out at least 120 amps at engine idle.

make sure your engine can take it :)
Well a dodge omni (86) was our SPL monster 2 years ago with a 400 amp ohio generator on it.

IASCA rules state RPM level cannot reach more than 3000, and the SPL monsters just get trailored.

But if its a dailyand a 6 or 8 cylinder, you are more than fine.
