everything should bolt right up. the 500 and 454 are big blocks, so the motor mounts should be the same. i dropped a 351 cleveland in an old 1979 F-100 that originaly came with a 302. i had to do a small mod to the motor mounts, but it all went together. gm is much the same. remember, these are parts bin cars. buick, olds, gm they all had many different engine and tranny combo's. most were interchangeable.
i wasnt thinking,i just ment to say it all depends on the bellhousing :biggrin:Originally posted by biggeazy-e@Jan 4 2009, 11:59 AM~12600755

:uh: theres and adapter plate for the TH400 that would go to a B.O.P or a different one for a Chev...but u said a 454 or a 350 chev? or a 400 SB chev or 400 pontiac? two completely different 400's...if u want cheap and easy keep it a crate 350 chev and that TH400 u got get the different adapter plate...Originally posted by poppo2_4@Jan 4 2009, 08:39 AM~12600488

The 500 motor mounts won't work on any Chevy. The TH400 that is bolted to the 500 won't work on any Chevy, either. The trans has the "BOP" bellhousing, and the Chevy has its own pattern. To put a 350 or a big block Chevy in, you need the 5.7 mounts from the 91-92. With a 350, you could use a Chev pattern TH350, 700R4/4L60, 200 4 R (they have a universal pattern), or even a Powerglide. With a big block, I would go with a TH400.

Why the hell would you pull a Cadillac 500 out to replace it with a small 350 or 400? Replace it with another 500 or a 472. Everybody puts a GM motor in their Lacs you should keep it all Cadillac. I just put a 472 in my 80 Coupe and nobody expects to see that when I pop the hood. Best thing about it is it dropped right in, the only thing I had to do was grind down the front bolt on the passenger side A arm mount to clear the manifold.
Yeah, I heard they acquired Cadillac a year or two ago.Originally posted by Sleepy G@Jan 5 2009, 06:56 PM~12613848
I THINK CADILLAC IS ALSO GM

Seriously? I could've swore I saw the GM logo on a 2012 Cadillac concept. Maybe they're still hoping the deal goes through?? That'd be cool, to go to an auto show and see the Cadillacs parked near the GMs, and not all the way in the back.Originally posted by Sleepy G@Jan 5 2009, 08:57 PM~12615145
i could have sworn they were just talkin about it
