Hello FAM. I am restoring my '64 impala. Will a rear disc brake conversion kit fit. If so what size rotors should I use. I am running 14 inch reverse wire rims. The distrubitor said that it would. However, I have read several posts in which the rear end was shortened. For what reason I do not know. Thanks again FAM

So I only need to get it shortened if I want to run skirts. If so what car should I get the shortened rear. What are the other adjustments? Thanks

you get the stock impala axle shortened at a machine shop, or you can swap in a ford 9" rear end from a lincoln continental, which will have disc brakes already, but you will still have to shorten it and have all the suspension mounts transferred over

depending on the kit u buy some wont' fit rimz smaller than 15..
make sure u find out for sure before u do it..
find out the rotor size and maybe even the height that the caliper sits above it.
just some pointers.

as far as the rear end
from what i've herd it's only for the skirts..
liftin the ass shifts the rear over(because of the panard bar.)
the shorter rear end will keep the wheels from smackin the skirts.
