It's one thing after another, and it's pissing me off...

for a while now, when i put my windshield wipers on they work, but when it starts RAINING and i turn them on, then don't go... now if i put them on and then pop my hood and open it, then they work, and from then on they'll keep working till the next time it rains.

anyway, today i got some bird shit on my windshield, so i put the wash on, and it doesn't stop... for like 2 minutes it keeps going (the wipers... the water had stopped)... now i messed with the switched (moved it from "mist" to "hi" a few timse) and eventually they stopped, but now they don't work right, as in when i put them on "mist" they keep going, they don't just go up and down once like they should.

so i want to know, is that the actual switch (in the dash, with "hi", "low", "mist", "delay", etc.) that controls the windshield wipers? or is there some box somewhere else in the car that actually controls the wipers... cause i'm going to a junkyard tomorrow, and i may as well grab that while i'm there.

let me know please
Thanks

i'm guessin its the caddy in the pic u are talkin about..
if so.. chances are that it is the circuit board in the wiper motor box... if u have tilt make sure that the wires are not gettin screwed up in there.. tilt your wheel up and down while tryin the wipers.. if it works then doesn't when ur tiltin the wheel.. that could be it as well..
i'd try that tilt thing first... if that seems ok.. then check the motor.. u can take that thing appart while its still on the car too.. give it a shot.. it don't work now..so it's not like u can make it much worse.

those wipermotor/circuits are notorious for messing up just like you describe. most of the time the mist stops working long before the wipers develope an attitude. My 89 caprice, 79 imp, and 80 grand prix all have had wiper issues. I just disconnected my gp ones cause i never drive it in the rain. Auto parts stores carry a replace ment but i think its in the 50-70 buck range. should cure your problem tho its either 90% the motor or 10% wiring :uh:
