Well I want to do this on a trike not a car so how would I wire the remote turn on to a switch? Could I tap into the 12 volt power source(positive wire) or will that mess everything up?
Also the reason why I wanted to use an mp3 instead of a deck is becuase the mp3 would have its own power source and allow the battery to last longer between charges... but would a line driver just take up more power and just make using the mp3 pointless? I have never used a line power driver so I dont know how it works :dunno:

Yup, this application works well. I have done this mp3 to amp setup for some customers that go to the desert. They roll in their dune buggies with loud ass systems no problem.

I actually had the same setup on my trike except I used a portable cd player but its the same idea..I cut a piece of sheet metal and mounted the switch 2 it and mounted the piece of sheet metal to the nut and bolt under your seat were the seat post goes into it..it was just a regular on off toggle switch..
And as far as the setup..all u need is the wire that plugs into the headphone jack and has the red and white rca's on the other end

I just bought a converter that hooks in line with your antenna and then hook up to your ipod so you dont have to change out your deck. It also has a cable that will hook into the bottom of the ipod and charge it as well. About 40.00 each.

Could I do this instead of using an indash deck? And would I still need the remote turn on?

i ran my computer to an amp and sub just need a rca to headphone jack.. i heard no difference in sound, just make sure its a quality cable you use. i used a double headphone plug in. and used a rca to headphone jack, to run another amp for mids and tweets,as for shutting it off i wired the remote to a independent light switch :cheesy:
