don't know what happened but now when i turn the key off in my wifes 86 regal the voltage light comes on and doesn't turn off unless i turn the key on. it is draining the battery when it sits.and it just started doing this today. many thanks to whoever can help me out with this.

Is the light still on after you start the car? If so, sounds like it's time for a new alternator.
one of my buddies had a similar problem way back...he ended up replacing his voltage regulator and the light never came back on...?
thanks for the advice. same thing a friend told me tonight. so in the a.m. i'm gonna replace the alternator since the regulator is inside. wish me luck cause my ol' lady is rippin' my ass!!! she's ready to drive her damn lolo!!! :0
